Uses of Glycerin

Hey Beauties!

When we go to buy products we often look at the ingredients and all those big long ingredients make us think oh it must be good or bad, or when the sales assistant says this has "such and such a long word" and we are often impressed.

What is Glycerin? Glycerin is a 3-carbon alcohol, aka glycerol. It is non-volatile and intensely hygroscopic (water-loving) which means it draws water to its self from the surroundings its in

I wanted to tell you about simple Glycerin and its many uses. I got this bottle from my local drug store

  • If you mix Glycerin with more water to glycerin it makes a great moisturiser because the Glycerine is Hygroscopic so it absorbs moisture/water from around it. we use water mixed with Glycerine so it doesn't draw moisture from other layers of your skin. I have used it this way before and in all honesty it is amazing! much better than some of the market moisturisers which can cost so much money!
  • The pure form of Glycerin kills all bacteria on contact by instantly drawing the water out of them
  • It also doubles healing speed, cuts scarring in half
  • De-congest nasal passages by rubbing a few drops of glycerine-water mix just inside the nostrils. Takes about 15 minutes to soften blockage and quiet agitated nasal passages, opening the airway
So we can see that Glycerin has some amazing qualities which are contained in some of the high end makeups.
Glycerine is also used in Special Effects makeup to create the appearance of swelling and also used in forming tears even mixed with water it is great for spraying onto the skin to form sweat or rain drops

Gycerin used to make tears
What do you think about this?
Have you tried using Glycerin?

  1. I'll mix it with rose water and it works very well as an eye make-up remover. Eye make-up removers tend to be harsh for me and this is so gentle.
