Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit Review

Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit

Hey Beauties!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and got lots of goodies! haha today i'm going to be talking about the Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit. Its amazing how popular contouring has become it seems like everyone does it these days and i think thats great because who doesn't want cheekbones! I think it all started with Kim Kardashian and her ways of contouring and highlighting, fun fact this is actually Kim's favourite contouring powder and she was one of the main reasons it was brought back. I was lucky enough to get to try this before the relaunch because in October? i think it was and ive been loving it since.

Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit

This has become my favourite contour kit simply because of the contour if you like to contour you'll know how hard is it to find a good one that is the proper colour and I'm so excited to say that i have finally found the perfect colour. This kit contains 3 different powders working left to right we have the contour powder which is a cool toned block grey-brown that is perfect for getting that real shadowy effect your looking for then we have a bronzer which when swatched looks really orangey i didn't think it would look that good on the skin but it actually looks really natural almost like i actually have a tan which is really impressive then lastly we have the highlight which is a matte yellow tone that works really well on more medium/tanned skin tones not so much on pale skin because you can't really see it.

Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit Review
Left to Right:
Contour, Bronzer, Highlight
This product is really a fantastic little thing because it comes with everything you need to know how to contour and sculpt your face. It comes with a little contour brush to be honest i dont really use it for placement of contour but i do use it for buffing out as i like smaller brushes its really good for applying the highlight powder but i dont use it for the bronzer as i think its a bit too small for that. It also comes with a handy how to guide in the actual compact which is stuck to the mirror, it shows you where to apply the contour, highlight and bronzer which is really handy.

I really like the packaging because its quite a sturdy thing to carry about its also kind of hard to open so it won't be opening in your bag if you're carrying it around with you day to day. The only thing i dont like is it gets really fingerprint-y haha so i find myself always cleaning it.
Overall i think this is a great product but there is kind of a big downside to it in the sense that it only comes in 1 shade and i dont think this would suit everyone

If you are interested you can find the Smashbox Step by Step Contour Kit at smashbox.co.uk or on Smashbox counters for £35 (this is a really popular product so you might not find it on counters as it might have sold out)

Have you tried this contour kit?

I went to the launch of this at my local counter. I was a bit dissapointed as they had sold out and not held any back for us to buy at the blogger event. We watched them do demos and I really liked it, I think £35 is a little expensive, I would of brought it on the night, and I may pick it up when I next go past a Smashbox counter. I liked the fact it didnt have shimmer in. Hope you had a lovely Christmas. KBxx
