Smashbox Step By Step Contour Stick Trio Review

Smashbox Step By Step Contour Stick Trio Review

Hey Beauties!

I just wanted to say sorry for the lack of posts lately the last 2 months have been absolutely crazy for me, with my mum getting a kidney transplant, my final month of college and our family dog passing away its been a little crazy this month so i hope you'll forgive me but i am back now and ready to go!

I wanted to talk about the Smashbox Step By Step Contour Stick Trio to say I was really excited to try these out is probably a little bit of an understatement because anyone know knows me will know how obsessed i am with contouring it's like cosmetic surgery without the actual surgery, if done right contouring can change an entire face!

In this trio you get a contour, a highlighter, and a bronzer. The contour is a deep cool shade that sculpts to create shadows, the highlighter is obviously a light shade with a yellow base to push features forward and the bronzer is a warm toned transition shade that eliminates harsh lines by blending the highlight and contour shades.

I think that Smashbox always makes some of the best contouring and highlighting products because they know what they are doing. There is never any warmth or any sparkle in their contours and the bronzer is a really nice warm tone without those horrible overly red tones that are sometimes common in bronzers, and with the highlighter there's nothing to say other than, beautiful. All of these shades are beautifully blendable you can build up the coverage or go sheer just by the different ways you apply if you were to use a damp sponge like a like a beauty blender, you'd get a more diffused soft look or if you just used a brush or your fingers you would get a more defined angular look. It's all about how you apply the product to yourself.

Smashbox Step By Step Contour Stick Trio Review

The staying power of these products is impressive once they are applied they seem to set so once its on your face its staying there, this would a fantastic idea for those of you who find that your makeup doesn't stay and ends up gone by lunch.
If you want these to say a little longer you could even try layering with a contour powder that way you get intensity but you are setting this product as you're using a powder on top. You just need to make sure to blend well.

Smashbox Step By Step Contour Stick Trio Review

When I first saw this I thought you bought either the contour, highlighter or bronzer individually, but to find out it was a trio set was amazing because I don't think ive seen anything this good of quality before as yes, you do get contour and highlighter sticks but I find them to all be a bit too red toned to use. Personally i love the idea of a crayon/pencil type product that lets you be as precise as you want to be there's no messing around dipping into pots or pans you just literally draw it onto your face, blend and you're done.
Something that also really impressed me was this trio comes with a sharpener dedicated to these crayon/pencils, how many times have you seen doing something like lipliner or eyeliner and then you have to go hunt for a sharpener because its because blunt! Brands almost never supply sharpeners with their products so this was a big plus.

  2. It sounds like it's been a tough month for you, and I'm sending love!!
These sticks look interesting. They don't look too emollient, which is what I worried about. Impressive!

I definitely agree with your review because I have these as well. I thought they were good, but they weren't 100% perfect. I think your metrics are excellent! xx adaatude.com
