Favourite Highlighting Products

If i had to choose 1 part of makeup that i love the most it would be highlighting and contouring, i was planning on doing a second part to this post on the contouring part of things so keep an eye out for that.
Highlighting your face can make such a difference to how you look it can bring your best features forward and can give you that gorgeous glow everyone is always looking for.
Above are the 4 staple products that i tend to use for highlighting ranging from pinks and golds to cream and powder products

To start of we have this Sleek Contour Kit* (£6.49) this kit contains a contour powder and a highlighter. the highlighter is a pink based powder that applies really smoothly, its really pigmented as well so you only need to apply a little. What i love the most about this is that it just blends into the skin really well it doesnt accentuate any pores or fine lines.

The next highlight i tend to use a lot is Illamasqua Gleam in Aurora (£20) this is a cream highlighter which works great on those with drier skin types as it doesn't accentuate dry spots i also really love using this on more mature skin as well. Aurora is quite a champagne colour its quite a duo colour as it is quite pink toned but it still looks quite champagne toned. I personally think this is much better than most highlighters simply because it really does highlight the skin and doesnt just make it look shiny. The one thing that got me with this is the texture it is a really weird feeling its quite hard to describe but its not bad just different but you will find as it does dry down without looking dry it will last for quite a long time

I thought about including a warmer based highlighting powders so i chose the following 2 products both are powders. The Nars Albatross Blush (£21.50) is a white blush in the palette but once you apply it you can see its quite a cool toned golden colour which is amazing for those of you who love gold toned highlighters but its also great for really deep skin tones as when you're highlighting on darker skin tones you want to use more golds instead of pinks to highlight. I find this blush is great for use on any skin type although i do find it doesnt look that amazing on more mature skin i would stick to cream highlights that werent to shimmery like the Illamasqua Gleam

The last highlighter has to be my favourite simply because its absolutely beautiful you get these products every once in a while and they are so beautiful you never want to use them, Sun in the City by Guerlain (£46.50) is one such product it was available in 2013 as part of the summer collection. I was lucky enough to get one when i did as it was a popular product being discontinued now i know its not much help but i just had to include it, im sure if you wanted to get this you could find it somewhere online. This highlighter is much warmer than NARS Albatross the name being Sun in The City makes sense it is warm. This is much more glittery than the others i would say this is a holiday type product something or night time.

All of these products can be found either at counters or online apart from the Sun in the City.

  8. Really interested in the Illamasqua Gleam - I prefer to use a cream based highlighter on myself (currently loving Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector), will hunt this out when next at an Illamasqua counter...x
