Benefit Shy Beam Matte Highlighter Review

Benefit Dandelion Shy Beam Launches in Full Size

Hey Beauties!

How are you all today? I can't believe how fast 2016 is moving its already April and I feel like it was only just Christmas.
Benefit has launched a new highlighter called Shy Beam which has only ever been in the operation: pore-proof! set but now you are able to buy a full-sized bottle of Shy Beam.

Shy Beam is a matte nude pink highlighter which has been carefully chosen to allow you to highlight and sculpt without the shine of a regular highlighter. Shy Beam enhances the look of cheekbones and gives a lifted look to the eyes when applied to the brow bone.
I like how Shy Beam comes with a little brush which lets you apply while on the go the brush applies just the amount of product you need.

Benefit describes Shy Beam as a liquid highlighter but i would say the consistency is more of a cream than a liquid, its much thicker than their tints which are liquids. Shy Beams applies smoothly and evenly, what I have notice is that it doesn't seem to dry down as fast as say High Beam so it does give you a chance to blend and move the product around.
Since Shy Beam is a nude pink tone it would work best on those of you with light to medium skin I think any more than that it would end up looking a bit to harsh on deep skin as it is quite pale.

This would be a great highlighter for those of you who like a natural face, something that isn't going to scream I'm wearing lots of makeup. If you're looking for more of a Kim Kardashian highlight this probably won't cut it, for that I would suggest something like Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop because that would be a shimmery highlight that really stands out. Shy Beam is going to be good for those of you who have oily skin, enlarged pores, fine lines because it dries matte with no shimmer there's no chance of it reflecting light where you don't want it to

I love the fact that this can be used in so many different ways by adding light to the skin rather than shimmer think of Shy Beam as a matte version High Beam. I love using Shy Beam on the tops of cheekbones to brighten, on the brow bone or the inner corner,  on the cupid's bow to give the lips a pouty look.

Benefit Dandelion Shy Beam can be found on benefitcosmetics.com or on Benefit counters from the 1st April for £19.50*

  1. Great review, I haven't seen a matte cream highlight in a very long time. I love High Beam so hopefully this will be equally as impressive.

  2. This looks like a really interesting concept and like all Benefit products, the packaging is the cutest! I don't think I own anything like it. I can't wait to try it.

  3. Ooh this sounds really interesting, I definitely have big pores and strong highlighters can do me no favours so I think I'd like to try this!

I can't imagine a highlighter that's not shimmery! I live in my BECCA Jaclyn Hill one, but this actually looks really nice and I'm interested to try it!

  7. In all honesty, I don't use highlighters too often, but I do know that Benefit is probably one of the best brands to go for. :]

  10. I NEARLY bought this yesterday but I was really 50-50 about it. I think it would look great as very subtle skin-shaping and also great for on the brow bone/cupids bow but I l already have my High Brow for that, and a similar tone. Great review xx

  11. I love the sound of this, I tend to wear a cream concealer highlight and then powder over the cheek bones with something a lot more shimmery. I'll be swatching this next time I'm in store to see if it would work well as the base highlight.

  12. This sounds fabulous. I love my Mary-Lou for some shimmer but sometimes I just want a low-key highlight and this seems to fit the bill. I am a little unsure if the pinkiness will clash with my yellow-toned medium skin though. Otherwise, exciting stuff! ;)

  14. I like the sound of this although I do prefer a full-on Kim K can-see-my-highlighter-from-space kind of look! x
