I want to talk about something i dont think ive have before and that's how i do my skincare routine and makeup on myself, i thought it would interest you to see so here we go.
To get started first we have to prep the skin we need a good base to work on, Start with cleansing your skin i really like using the Bioderma Hydrabio Micellar Water, something i'm actually running out of. Bioderma is great for sensitive skin and those with dry skin as it hydrates your skin perfect for men who tend to a little more on the dry side, Apply this all over the face using a cotton pad then i like to move on to an exfoliator what i'm using just now is the Kiehl's Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion which i only use once a week because it's so exfoliating. An exfoliator is used to scrub off the dead skin cells on your skin this one is particularly good because it helps to make your significantly smoother and clearer, it also helps to reduce the appearance of facial lines and discolorations. This next step is optional but i use the Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate which helps to make skin look more revived and fresh as well can all have a problem with fatigue sometimes. Its great because it helps to defend your skin against environmental aggressors and oxidative stress. Next we use our eye cream i personally love the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Eye Cream its one of the best ive ever used it contains a power ingredient called Matrixyl 3000 which studies have shown that continued use even only after 1 month of daily application has shown to slow down the aging process by 1.8 years, Age Support Eye Cream also contains the dual action and moisturising effects of Hyaluronic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid Filling Spheres help to soothe, naturally hydrate and plumps the skin whilst Collageneer gives the skin it's firmness and elasticity. Finally you use your moisturiser, what ever one you want sometimes i like to use the Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream or Origins Ginzing Moisturiser.
When everything is blended out you should have something like the below image, that's you completed your male grooming. It might seem like a lot of steps but the results are really great and can really change your face. If you do it right you will look fantastic and groomed and people won't even know you're wearing makeup.
As you can see my face looks a lot more even not as red and the under eye darkness is gone and my eyes look a lot brighter and the best thing is it doesnt even look like im wearing makeup its just about selecting the right products and not using to much of them

Left to Right- Illamasqua Matte Veil, Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray, Daniel Sandler Retexturising Primer |
This next step is done before actually put any makeup on we use primers as a magnet and also to give the skin a smooth surface to work on. Primers hold the makeup in place there there are some primers which shrink pores, hide fine lines and some even contain SPF. I usually switch between the 3 you see above, Illamasqua Matte Veil, Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray, Daniel Sandler Retexturising Primer.
After Skincare and Priming the skin |
Now on to makeup, we dont want anything heavy or noticeable we just want something that will correct things like acne, dark circles, and to accentuate our features.
- Apply Smashbox BB Eye Cream under your eyes and blend out
- Apply your concealer (MAC Select Cover up) where you need it for blemishes around your face
- Use Illamasqua Brow and Lash Gel to groom your brows you just want them to look like they have some shape and do the same to your lashes after curling them (curling your lashes is optional, i just like the look of lashes it really opens up your eyes)
- Set the concealer under your eyes with the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder so it stays in place
- Apply a flesh coloured pencil into your waterline this will cancel the red tones and make you look more awake i use the Une Skin Glow Pencil
- Finish off with a lip balm that doesn't have shimmer or shine (Body Shop Lip Balm
Using the Smashbox BB Eye Cream under my eyes to brighten everything up |
